While driving home from Whole Foods on Sunday, August remembered that he had pilfered a banana from the kids club basket. Mama had conveniently hidden the banana in her bag since we had just finished dinner. So August spoke up and this is what followed....
A - anana?
M - (nothing in an attempt to ignore the request)
A - Mama' anana?
M - Banana?
A - Yesssssss
M - Wait until we get to a stop light and I will find it.
A - kay!
we drive in silence for a minute
A - anana?
M- Ok here is some banana
Another minute or two passes while he is eating some banana
A - Mo anana
M - Do you want some more banana?
A - Yesssssss!
M - Ok say please
A - Mo anana please
The important things to notice about this exchange are as follows:
1. The word "no" is not featured any where...in fact the word "yes" shows up twice along with an agreeable "ok"
2. There appears to be understanding and thought in his answers and conversational track
3. He strung 3 words together on his own!
