We definately have a todler now. The conversation in our house seems to procede as follows, "Where did he get that bruise?" Oh he just dove head first into his book shelf. (That one sucked, according to Carlos. And the bruise seems to be sticking around longer than the rest.) Fell side ways onto the edge of teh tub during bathtime. (This is almost a nightly occurance now...part of night night routine right?). He just tripped over his very excited feet (Constantly) He was standing on...(Insert any number of inappropriate objects...such as Mama's face) He had climbed up onto the baby gate across his door. (I want to get a picture of this because he holds himself completely off the floor with both feet on teh gate). Or my favorite...he was running while holding his train and fell and hit himself in the face with the train (Aunt Neva whitnessed that one via phone) and so on till we have lost count.
Tonight however he finaly tumbled and slammed his hand in his dresser drawer. To his parent's dismay August loves to repeatedly open and close his dresser drawers. Not the safest pastime for a boy who falls, tumbles, trips, rolls, and collapses at the slightest provocation. We attempt to block him when ever posible. Pry fingers off the edges of the drawers before closing and leaning against the dresser to prevent the repeated action. But tonight infront of both parents he tumbeled and smashed his fingers with the drawer. Now breaks or blood. Just lots of screaming and fingers in the mouth.
My question is, will he remember tomorrow? Will he stop trying to open and close the drawers and move onto to say his bedroom door (a relatively new discovery).....hmmmm
Yikes! Let's hope that he does start to connect the dots with action vs. consequence soon. This phase does end eventually. :)
