August has a new found skill. He has discovered that he can put his blue bouncy ball into his wooden puzzle box. The wooden puzzle has been too hard for him up to this point. He has mostly just chewed on the different shapes but demonstrated to us this week that he understands he is suposed to put them in the box.
It started with him independently trying to put the lid on the box infront of both Currie and Carlos. With a littlie bit of guidance he can get the lid to settle into position. This brings on large quantities of smiles and a renewed atempts to puting the lid on the box.
Later Sunday afternoon Currie and August were playing with his different sized and textures balls. We were rolling, bouncing, tossing(currie only), and eating (August only) the various toy balls. When Currie "hid" the bouncy blue ball in the puzzle box and put the lid on. August thought this was awsome and imediately demonstrated that he could also put the ball in the box followed by the lid. He even repeated the action an hour or so later when asked if he could put the ball in the box.
This has led to August now putting some of the wooden shapes into the box completely unprompted. He still just takes the lid off and drops them inside instead of attempting to push them through any of the holes.
He began showing interest in his push train several weeks ago as a train not a chew toy or rattle. He mimicked Currie pushing the train on the floor. Sunday afternoon Currie built a tunnel of blockes for the train to go through. August was delighted to say the least. It may be the first time that he has seen our block constructions as anything except something to destroy. Because he attempted but failed to get the train throught the tunnel. In his exuberance the crashed the train and destroyed the tower.
