Oh Mama, not again!
Well Mama has gone and broken our camera again. Well, broken the new camera anyway. She thinks it happened when we flew to visit with Grandpa, Baba, and Nena. Of course she did not remember to take any photos on the trip itself (why would she do that.?. I was only hanging out in NC with some of my grandparents, going hiking, and otherwise being adorable...but that is another story) She discovered the camera was broken just yesterday when she wanted to take pictures of me in my Halloween costume. (Alas, another year where I will have to pose sometime in November).
So any ways with the broken screen my folks can't see what they are trying to photograph or if it is in focus. This means it may be a while before yall see any new pictures of me...I will just be saving up the cuteness untill then.

Looking Back on Summer
It was too hot to talk about it then, but now that the temperature's only getting up to 70 today, I want to talk about the fabulous pool parties I had this summer.
First, Papa's friend Justin came over to our apartment pool with his wife Leanne and their son Alex who's two weeks older than me. They had some cool toys - some fun balls and an innertube they let me keep. There's a 1 foot section/shelf we can splash around in. I like to jump into the deep section. Papa or Mama don't like it when I do - they don't like to fish or fish me out or something. Mama and Papa are good at cannonballs - I like it when they splash me good. But it's not fair I don't get my turn. I love to splash and kick and jump.
That same week, my friend Noah and his parents Eric and Sunny (mom's friends from before I was born) came to visit. Noah's like twice my age, but he didn't like to jump. He did like to have splash wars. After seeing me jump in a few million times, he started jumping too. And I started playing water war. That's what friends are for.
Those play dates were back at the beginning of the summer. Then, towards the end of the summer (or so we thought), aunt Sabina came to visit! And we went to the pool a couple of times. Sabina and Papa took me one morning while Mama was working, and then we all went again. I think aunt Sabina likes swimming as much as I do! She said something about wanting to get some sun because where she's from there's no sun. Does she live on the dark side of the moon? How could there be no sun? Papa says she's from Vermont where I was born. I don't remember that - but I remember the month of 100 degree days we had this summer. I hope she got her fill since it's getting down in the 40's at night here.
Now that summer's over, I make sure to splash all I can in the bath. Mama and Papa are so caring to give me the whole bath to myself - so I try to share some of the water back with them. Mama kept saying "Schlitterbahn" this year, but we didn't go. Mama says it's a water park. I hope we get to go next year. Nobody likes water more than me.
P.S. - When we weren't swimming, we found some splash pads to visit. Some had some cool palm tree or giant shower fountains. It was buckets of fun - literally. There was also a shady one that we kept going back to. Too bad I can't have a splash pad party for my birthday in January. Maybe we should celebrate my half-birthdays instead?
New Toy
What's that new, persistent sound coming from the couch? Is it the sound of Papa typing away? Of Mama clicking her mouse? NO - it's me on my new laptop.
Mama and Papa had talked about getting me one to go with the phone on my toy shelf (the old portable from Brattleboro) - and they finally did. I played with it a lot. I even tried taking it to bed with me that first night. But now when Papa needs to check the weather (sports) in the morning, I have a laptop I can use too.
Leave it to my parents to turn it into a lesson on saving energy. But every time I put the laptop away, I turn the power off all by myself. They didn't even have to show me how - I just saw Papa do it a couple times.
On my new laptop I will be learning letters and animals. It also plays music. Papa says once he sets it up I can get emails too? What's an email?
Okay - gotta go. Papa's coming to check on me - he doesn't know I sneaked my laptop into my crib for nap time.
Love you all!

The Zoo
We all headed to Houston this weekend to celebrate Caco's 65th birthday. Uncle Billy and Aunt Edna, Caco's brother and sister, were also visiting from Florida. We had a wonderful home cooked meal on Friday night, Chicken & Rice! Then Saturday morning we all headed to the Houston zoo.
Saturday was the 1st weekend of Boo at the Zoo so all the animals had their own jack-o-lanterns. I got to see lions, tigers, bears, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, birds, fish...EVERYTHING!!!!! I was so excited that I walked around the whole zoo holding onto everyone's hand in turn. I must have walked for miles. Everyone was so impressed. I loved the Zoo. Caco got me a membership so I can go back anytime I want!!!
So Happy Birthday Caco! I can't wait to go back to the zoo!

Oh the games we play....
Falling is now a game. This particular game has been a blessing with this extreme heat. Kind of like playground in the house. We pull Amazon's old bed over to the couch and then August flops, face first, onto the bed. Repeatedly until he is a panting and sweaty little man. He climbs onto the couch and swan dives on to the bed. Arms out with no fear. Just lots of giggles and tonight, the utterance of a new phrase..."i jump".
Doh n!?! (We think he is saying donde?) Because he says this while holding his hands out after hiding something. Most frequently he has hidden his belly button. He will follow with whipping up his shirt and laughing, then point to his belly button and yell "belly!". This game is veeeerry popular. He likes to play with other whole foods employees, some of whom are confused, but mostly delighting his adoring public.....
This game took a twist this evening during bath time when he took one of his stacking cups and put it in his lap then said "Doh n?" I responded with "I don't know? Donde esta? (where is it). he then splashed in delight, removed the cup, grabed his penis and announced "thereitis" (we are not sure he is aware that this is a three word phrase). So I found myself playing where is the penis with a toddler for a solid 10 minutes...who knew.

Constant changes
August is constantly changing, surmounting new milestones, and finding new ways to make us laugh.
Unlike his cousin Grafton, August now likes to enter and exit his bed at will. Tonight Carlos and I were watching a movie when I heard a strange noise from the hall. After some discussion we decided it was the air conditioner and went back to watching the movie. After a few more minutes we heard the noise again so Carlos went to investigate. He encountered August sitting by his box of balls playing quietly by himself. Upon seeing Carlos, August looked up and said, "Ball.?." then offered him a ball to play with as well.
