Recent conversations and chatterings

Shiny!
We use the word shiny as a joke in our house...(long story for another time)....August decided to bust out a "shiny" on us the other day in Target. It sounds more like shy-eee. Very cute so we repeated shiny.
The cycle continued with his shinies getting progressively worse until we found ourselves wandering through Target with August bellowing Shiesty. We couldn't help but laugh our heads off which, of course, only reinforced the behavior.

Broccoli!
Broccoli is back! Several days ago August and Mama were trying to get out a short sleeve shirt for the afternoon. August was in charge and rifling through the warm clothes drawer. He handed Mama, shirt after shirt. He got upset when he saw each shirt in Mama's hands. His words failed him. So Mama told him to chill and pick the shirt he wanted to wear. A few more moments passed with August sorting out the drawer.....when all the sudden he crooned, "Ooooh Broccey!" and held up his Broccoli shirt with a giant smile. The next day he was seen shoveling in large quantities of broccoli. So broccoli is back!

Back Hoe!
August now says Back Hoe! This is a great accomplishment since it is his favorite kind of truck.

Repetition and spontaneous 2 word phrases seem to be the norm now. He asked for "more squash" today and said "Hi Mama" on the phone. If we ask him to say something, he gives it a great effort to repeat the chosen phrase. I feel that real talking is on the horizon...So Iam savoring these last few weeks/months of quiet time.

  1. Way to go, August! Those are big words. And can you help us convince Grafton to eat broccoli!?
